Four Simple Ways To Cope With Stress When You Are Feeling Overwhelmed

· In: Health, Lifestyle, Wellness

Everyone gets to experience stress in their lives now and then. Some more than others. However, it is how you manage the stresses that show up in your life that will make all the difference.

The best ways to quickly manage stress when you are feeling overwhelmed

Unplug

We are surrounded by technology, notifications, and distractions on a continuous basis. This plays havoc in our nervous systems. Our brains have non-stop information coming in at them in the form of text messages, notifications from apps, the radio or TV on, and other external distractions, and our inner voice warning us that there is trouble often gets drowned out. Try turning OFF your phone and step away from your computer for a technology detox when you are able even if it is for only a few minutes.

Nature therapy

Head to the nearest park to reap the healing powers of Mother Nature. Nature Therapy or sometimes referred to as Ecotherapy can help minimize stress, anxiety, and depression. Studies show that spending as little as ten minutes in nature can improve your mood and wellbeing. Try taking a hike through a woodsy trail and if time permits, sit quietly for a few minutes under a tree with a journal to jot down a few of your thoughts. Nature therapy is my favorite form of self-help and has helped me through some of my most challenging times.

Get Moving

Exercise reduces your body’s stress hormones and releases endorphins which may improve your mood. Endorphins also act as a natural painkillers. Find a couple of types of activities that you enjoy doing and be sure to put them in your schedule. If you have never exercised, start with getting a physical first, and search for some activities that sound fun to you. You do not have to join a gym if that is something that does not appeal to you. It can be anything from taking a walk, yoga, pickleball, to trying a new type of exercise class. The important thing is to get your body moving.

Food for Thought

There is a direct link between what you eat and how your body will respond. You probably already know this but I will just confirm it for you. Do your best to stay away from sugar, processed carbs, alcohol, and too much caffeine. When you eat like crap, you feel like crap. Mentally and physically. Fill your plate with fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean and especially plant-based protein and you will begin to feel noticeably better.

I wish you peace,

January is Arbonne’s 45th anniversary 🍾and it January is Arbonne’s 45th anniversary 🍾and it also just happens to be my anniversary month with the company.

I started my journey with this amazing company 17 years ago (😵gasp! How in the world can it be that long??) as a way to shop at a discount.

I’m so grateful for all the experiences, opportunities, and most important the wonderful people that I have met along the way. I love my job, my Arbonne family and am still obsessed with the products, but I can honestly say watching how it’s helped others has brought me the most joy.

Happy Anniversary Arbonne, happy Monday everyone and keep warm 🥶
